ICON NOMINATIONS - JOIN IN! | MY THREAD

Well it's 2024, crazy how time flies so quickly. For the first post for 2024, I created 10 icons for

retro_icontest
and 4 remake icons for 2023 created in 2024.

For one of my icons, I decided to make alts for it and didn't know which one to submit for entry. As for another screencap,
I wasn't sure if it was high-angle enough so I ended up posting it as an alt. I really do like the crazy composition I created for that particular icon, and ended up creating an alt for that icon in terms of color. Other alts were created but not submitted for the post for retro_icontest.

Just like that 2023 is almost over! Some of my entries have been back-posted in a different date. Some months (like September and October) were back-dated and posted in November, but I labeled the icons that were created in the appropriate months.

January

+I started off the year by creating icons for

Closing Thoughts: I feel like I've probably started out wanting to work on my goals that I usually have working on more complex compositions but due to time crunch I ended up doing my style (negative space I guess or even doing stock icons). So to work on my same goals - complex composition and text work especially when I have the time to do so. - note - same closing remarks as last year!

Explanations:

These icons can also be nominated for bestof_icons since they were created in 2023 and remade in 2023.

First icon - okay, I wanted to keep the theme of hair porn - so I just focused on her hair again and then decided to use a different background as the first icon. I wanted to do closer cropping specifically on the face and hair area.

Second icon - I just wanted to keep the same composition, but play around with the coloring. I created two icons, because I wasn't sure if to go with the more natural coloring or more vibrant coloring.

Third icon - Same composition for the subject, but I wanted to use unnatural coloring and using a texture to help achieve that goal was there. It also gives a painty feel for the background for the stock.
Fourth icon - Honestly, the original icon was too dark for my liking so I decided to add a lot more light texture and yet keep the hair coloring that vibrant red coloring, then decided to add star textures just to see how it would work and it did! :)
Fifth icon - I liked the subject looking up so I wanted to do the same but add a different texture - circle texture and purple smokey texture to highlight this!

Sixth icon - So I used a different screencap on the same character and used a stock background and added text texture around it to make it stand out.

Part of remake but didn't post above:

Over-saturating the icon to give a more unnatural coloring effect.
